

Newton-le-Willows Reserves continued their strong start to the season with an impressive 5-1 away victory over Vulcan FC Development.
Chris Percival opened the scoring for Newton, although the hosts responded quickly to level the game.
Newton soon regained control, with Louie Rowlands restoring the lead and scoring for the second successive game before Cal Cotterill added a third shortly before half-time to give Newton a 3-1 advantage at the break.
The Reserves continued to push after the restart and Ethan Appleby maintained his excellent goalscoring form by making it 4-1. Appleby has now scored in each of Newton’s opening four league games, taking his tally to six goals for the season.
Percival completed the scoring late in the game with his second of the afternoon, sealing a convincing 5-1 victory.
Player of the Match honours were shared between midfielder Cal Cotterill and goalkeeper Ollie Foy after strong performances from both.
The result sees Newton move to the top of Cheshire Football League Reserve League 2 after an excellent start to the campaign.
