Ladies Ready to Kick Off New Premier Division Campaign

Newton-le-Willows Ladies begin their 2026/27 Cheshire Women’s & Youth Football League Premier Division campaign on Sunday when they welcome Congleton Town Ladies to Newton-le-Willows Sports Club.

The match kicks off at 2:00pm and gives Newton the opportunity to begin the new league season on home soil.

After a summer of preparation, attention now turns to competitive league action as the Ladies look to make a positive start to a campaign which will feature a number of new opponents alongside several familiar sides.

Newton have already had an opportunity to gain valuable match minutes ahead of the opener, including a 3–2 pre-season victory over Leigh Genesis at the Sports Club in August.

The Opposition: Congleton Town Ladies

Congleton Town Ladies will be familiar opposition after the two sides met twice in the Premier Division last season.

The first meeting at Newton-le-Willows Sports Club ended in a 2–2 draw, before Congleton took the points in the reverse fixture with a 5–2 victory at home.

Both clubs remain in the Premier Division for 2026/27, meaning Sunday provides an early opportunity to renew that rivalry as each side looks to get its new league campaign off to a strong start.
