Rio becomes the second new addition to the squad under Joint Player-Managers Ben Crowe and Anthony Plant, following the arrival of winger Nathan Wright.

The striker brings an impressive footballing background, having previously spent time with Everton Academy before becoming a scholar at Nottingham Forest.

His senior career has also included spells with Runcorn Town, Barnton FC, Prescot Cables and Avon Villa.

After spending some time away from football, Rio has quickly shown that he still possesses the quality that saw him play at a high level earlier in his career. His combination of goals, power and speed will add another exciting dimension to the Newton attack.
