As part of the club’s continuing strong relationship with Liverpool County FA, Newton was selected to host the session, which was attended by 15 coaches from across our junior section.

The evening included a practical session involving players from our U8 Cyclones, U10 Avengers and U11 Lizards, with Liverpool County FA coach developers Jonah and Jimmy focusing on how to create fun, engaging and welcoming environments for young players.

Speaking during the session, Jonah explained:

“Today we’ve been working on delivering fun activities and making sure coaching sessions are fun and engaging, creating a great environment for kids to be part of.”

The session looked at the use of questioning, challenges and positive encouragement to keep young players motivated and involved.

Jonah also highlighted the importance of grassroots coaches and the role they play in creating positive football experiences:

“At the County FA, we realise how important coaches are. Coaches are the lifeblood of everything that goes on.”

Club Chairman Andy Tither said:

“At Newton-le-Willows FC, we know that investing in our coaches is an investment in every player at the club.

“Events like this are about more than coaching qualifications. They give our volunteers the opportunity to learn together, share experiences and develop ideas they can take back to their teams.

“We’re extremely grateful for the continued support of LCFA and value the positive relationship we have developed. Working together helps us create more opportunities for our coaches and supports our ambition to continually improve the football experience we provide across Newton-le-Willows FC.”
