The pair bring significant experience to Ben Crowe and Anthony Plant’s squad, having spent a number of years playing across the Cheshire League and beyond.

Craig is an established Cheshire League central midfielder, and joins Newton having previously represented Garswood United and Vulcan FC.

A tough-tackling midfielder who is also comfortable on the ball, Craig will bring valuable experience to what remains a relatively young Newton squad.

First-Team Joint Manager Ben Crowe said: “Craig was one of the first lads that I knew I wanted to bring to the club. His experience and selflessness to help the team is going to be invaluable. It’s something every team needs and I’m made up to have him here.”

Mike arrives at Newton with a wealth of experience across several levels of the non-league game.

He began his senior career at just 17 with Ashton Athletic in the North West Counties League, spending five seasons with the club before moving on to Runcorn Linnets.

Following a lengthy spell away from the game and a couple of knee surgeries, Mike returned to football with Garswood United. He spent three years there and was part of the quadruple-winning side that lifted the Mid-Cheshire League Premier Division title.

A move to Bristol for work then saw him spend two to three years with Keynsham Town in the Western League Premier Division before returning to the North West and joining Vulcan FC, where he spent five seasons.

An all-rounder capable of helping the team in a number of positions, Mike also brings a level of determination and work rate that has already stood out within the squad.

Crowe said: “We are delighted to have signed Mike. He’s a top lad that will add some much-needed experience to our squad. His attitude and qualities are something we are pleased to have gained.”

The arrival of the Winer brothers adds further experience, versatility and quality to the squad as Newton continue preparations for the new League 1 campaign.
